The link between the number of carbon atoms in a fuel with the amount of energy it releases :: GCSE Chemistry Coursework Investigation
The connection between the quantity of carbon particles in a fuel with the measure of vitality it discharges Alcohols by and large have a place with exacerbates whose atoms depend on chains of carbon particles. They for the most part contain one oxygen molecule, which is joined to a carbon particle by a solitary bond. This makes them extraordinary to different mixes. The oxygen molecule is joined to the hydrogen iota as well as the carbon molecule, which makes the oxygen a piece of a hydroxyl gathering. These particles are commonly a piece of a hydrocarbon chain. These alcohols can remove water from the body, in which a hydrocarbon chain has supplanted a hydrogen iota. Alcohols have a general structure of CnH2n+1OH The point of this examination is to see the connection between the numbers of carbon molecule in a fuel with the measure of vitality it discharges. There would be an adjustment in the measure of vitality emitted that is getting more prominent, the more carbon particles in the fuel, the more there are more bonds to be broken and framed, consequently creating more vitality. ââ¬ËIn a concoction response, bonds in the reactant particle are broken and new ones are framed. Particles are reworked. Vitality must be placed in to break bonds, and vitality is given out when bonds are formed.ââ¬â¢ When the all out vitality put in is more noteworthy than the vitality put out, the substance chills off (it is endothermic). This is communicated as Þâ⬠+ve (delta positive). On the off chance that the all out vitality put in is not exactly the vitality made, at that point the substance heats up (it is exothermic). This is communicated as Þâ⬠- ve (delta negative). I will explore eight unique alcohols utilizing a liquor or soul burner, to quantify the vitality change during consuming them by estimating the adjustment in temperature of some water held by a compartment. This compartment must have an estimation of explicit warmth limit so I could figure heat moved to it also. Presumably the most conductive holder accessible for use in the homeroom is a calorimeter. Too as not squandering vitality in the warming of the holder, I could likewise attempt to prevent heat from getting away from the top and edges of the compartment by covering it with a fitting top. I will attempt to keep the breeze from blowing the flares to an alternate course so all the windows must be close. Speculation More vitality is discharged as more bonds are framed, underneath is the rundown of inexact vitality required to break and structure all bond engaged with consuming alcohols Kind OF BOND ENERGY REQUIRED TO BREAK THE BOND (j)

Case of Dell in Australia Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words
Instance of Dell in Australia - Essay Example B2B and B2C become the primary models utilized by organizations to arrive at their intended interest groups gesture satisfy clients needs (Bearden et al 2004). It appears to be likely that immediate selling from the producer will develop exponentially. Surely, it is this very transferability of data which for all intents and purposes ensures the downfall of conventional industry limits. Organizations are progressively finding that, in the event that they consolidate their data resources with those of different organizations, the joined data asset is extensively increasingly valuable to all sides: two and two, in this case, can make much more than four. Set up a government managed savings or expense database with another database of individuals who owe obligations and you have a methods for following individual borrowers over significant stretches of time and gathering the obligation from them when they at long last have the cash to reimburse it (a procedure is known as obligation obs ervation and right now being offered by certain organizations) (Dedrick and Kraemer 2001). The corporate goals of Dell are to make self improvement progressively valuable and simpler to utilize, improve client care and direct client connections. The reasonable and successful methodology permits an organization to rethink itself â⬠at all levels, from procedure to the activity of individual procedures (Drejer, 2002). Dell, an organization that is similarly unconstrained by physical geology (a dealer of administrations over the Internet, for instance) can reconfigure its dispersion to exploit the differences in local expense systems at for all intents and purposes no cost: it doesn't have any physical resources of any result that should be moved. For dell, its worth chain can be viewed as a progression of interrelated capacities inside any association that interface its data sources (crude materials to a production line, inbound coordinations to a retail outlet) to its yields (outbound coordinations, the offer of merchandise to clients), the virtual worth chain alludes to the worth that can be created by misusing the data created by any phase of thisâ process.

Science Has Made Man’s Life Quite Comfortable
Science has changed the essence of the world. It has, obviously, given numerous things that advantage man. Yet, the indecencies that it has showered on man wash away the points of interest. It has caused man to rely upon machines, number crunchers and PCs. A day may come when his physical and intellectual capacities may develop so frail that he will most likely be unable to lift a sack or fathom a straightforward condition. In the field of wellbeing administrations, it has given us life-sparing medications. Be that as it may, it has likewise given medications like smack and heroin. Atomic vitality made by science has been greatly applauded yet the impact in Russia has detonated the myth.Atom bombs made by researchers were tossed on Hiroshima and Nagasaki decades prior. The difficult memory despite everything waits and a large number of individuals are still sick. I obviously bolster science. Science has made all the things conceivable. REALLYâ⬠¦. without science we can't envision our lives. people may have extincted long back if science had not been improved. so,i think it ââ¬Ës not a bane for the general public. There is a misguided judgment about science ,individuals believe that it is the science which is answerable for the blasts just as destruction. But I might suspect it is human cerebrum which caused this decimation. Individuals battled and had lost their lives before the improvement of science too. in this way, it is definetly a shelter for the general public The best mischief science has done is to the confidence of man. God has become nothing worth mentioning. In the advanced wilderness of mental exercises where might a urgent man go? Having lost confidence, his scholarly exercises lead him to self destruction. Various researchers meet this destiny consistently in India. By This we can infer that Science has a larger number of Boons than Banes.

Summary of Ray Bradburys Fahrenheit 451 - Free Essay Example
Fahrenheit 451 is a novel by Ray Bradbury. The novel is set in a American city in the future. In this society people no longer read books, think independently, spend time by themselves, enjoy nature, or even have meaningful conversations. They now watch excessive amounts of television, drive extremely too fast, and listen to the radio on Seashell Radios (sets are attached to their ear) at all time. They have become shells of people. Not only are people just shells, but the United States has started and won two atomic wars in this society. Our protagonist, Guy Montag, is a firemen and the meaning of firemen has changed greatly, now instead of putting out fires firemen start fires in homes of people who have books. Throughout the book Guy questions what society has told him and begins to read the forbidden books. Guy eventually has to go on the run after killing his boss. At the end of the book, Guy encounters a group of intellectual who memorized books, as they are leaving the city it gets bombed by enemy jets. Ray Bradburys Fahrenheit 451 is how he saw the future folding out in front of him. During his life he saw the cold war and all of its effects, he saw the invention of the television and its effects. He took his life and the time period and created the worst case scenario and made it it a book. Fahrenheit 451 is not just a book its what Bradbery feared would happen if the world continued on this path. Fahrenheit 451 is a prediction, its major themes such as censorship, war, and television are all directly influenced by Bradburys life experiences and the time period he was living in. CENSORSHIP The first major theme in Fahrenheit 451 and what the whole book revolves around is censorship. Ray Bradbury saw censorship in its many forms happening in the 1950s and based the plot of his book off what he was seeing, in the real world. In the 1950s America just ended World War II and was about to start the Cold War. During this time America went through a phase where they saw a classes society and anyone who thrented this premise was censored. The biggest item to be censored during this time was literature. If a book led to a wariness of difference, of dissent; almost any criticism of the status quo could be interpreted by someone as an attempt to subvert the American way of life (CITATION), and once that book was deemed unacceptable it was banned. America went through a phase where anything that could offend someone or someones beliefs became banned. Ray Bradbury illustrates perfectly in his book, what would happen if we let this censorship get too far. Not only is the public censoring books, but with the invention of the television and its integration into homes, censoring became even easier. People believed what was on the television and could easily influenced people to believe in a certain ideology. Ray Bradbu ry feared the worst when it came to television he was quoted The television is real. It is immediate, it has dimension. It tells you what to think and blasts it in. It must be right. It seems so right. It rushes you on so quickly to its own conclusions your mind hasnt time to protest, What nonsense!. (Ray Bradbury) He was terrified the world was going to become conforming non-thinking citizens, and that is what he illustrates in Fahrenheit 451. FAhrenheit 451 shows readers how terrible censorship and mindless conformity is. Bradbury uses artificial stimulus, such as the television and the radio, to show the reader how isolated the public is and how their minds are being controlled by this government of the twenty-first century. Its what Ray Bradbury feared the most, so he showed the most extreme example in Fahrenheit 451 to scare people. An example of censorship and the effects of television in Fahrenheit 451 is, the three-walled television in Guy Montags living room. His wife, Mildred, watches TV all day and soaks up all the mindless programming and propaganda being fed to her. She has lost almost all of her short-term memory because of this. In one scene Mildred is asked about something that happens in a TV show shes watching and she cannot remember what is going on, even though less than a few minutes have passed. She also displays this behavior when Montag asks her to get him some aspirin when he has a headache. After she leaves the room, she returns without the aspirin and any remembrance of Montags request.

Prostitution And The United States - 1892 Words
Prostitution is illegal in the United States and the laws keeping it illegal are causing more problems than they are solving. Because there are no regulations or laws protecting sex workers in the United States, and everything is run underground, there is nothing stopping the mistreatment and abuse of sex workers in the United States. The only way to protect sex workers is to legalize prostitution. In the following paper, I will attempt to prove that prostitution is a victimless crime and the laws against prostitution are hurting prostitutes more than they are helping them. If we want prostitutes to remain safe while earning a living, the only way to achieve this is to legalize prostitution. A common objection to the view thatâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Their body is owned by them, not the government so it should not be up to anyone else what they do with their body. A quote from Robin Barton, a Brooklyn legal journalist, said this in her article on the website The Crime Report; ââ¬Å"Women are entitled to control over their bodies. Just as they should have the right to decide whether they want to remain pregnant, women should be able to decide for themselves whether they want to engage in sexual acts in exchange for money.â⬠(Barton). Because prostitution is a victimless crime, it should be legalized in order to ensure the welfare and prosperity of sex workers who are trying to make an honest living and protect them while doing so. People in favor of keeping prostitution illegal often mention that during the time the prostitute is working, they are being forced to consent or they are being raped. My response to this objection is this; A consenting man and a consenting woman who agree to fornicate for a price is not rape, especially if there are laws and regulations protecting the prostitute and proper facilities (like a brothel) keeping them safe and secure. An interesting comparison to prostitution industry, is the pornography industry. The only difference between these two is the addition of the camera, along with two consenting adults and an exchange of money. If prostitution was legalized, the regulation of the business would ensure that the women who are taking part in this trade are not

Communication is an essential aspect in life, without it, life cannot function well. Lately, most people have been taken over by social websites for interaction, such as twitter and Facebook. Adults also stay abreast in this matter as they are using it to establish and form relationships. Adults, who want to find love, mostly use the latter and those in need of expanding their businesses and careers. The locations, which I chose, were Starbucks, a friendââ¬â¢s house and ââ¬Ëthe spotââ¬â¢ that is hookah lounge. This are places where many people go to and as well as them being conducive for facebooking. Day 1-Starbucks It is on the 12th day of October, in the year 2011, that I set out to go and observe the effects that Facebook has had on the adult population. According to research, over eighty percent of American adults consume coffee and Starbucks is where they obtain their favorite brew. At around seven thirty, I set out to star bucks, which is located at the city center. It is strategically positioned and this means that many adults on their way to work have to pass by. Currently, Facebook is the most popular social site in the world and it attracts even adults, who would be busy with other things. Starbucks is especially full since it is a cold morning and everyone is in dire need of coffee, which has been freshly brewed. Upon entering Starbucks, the smell of coffee is eminent and people are lined up as they wait to be served. Others are seated as they sip on their favorite brand of coffee. For the second time in a different setting, I notice that people are on Facebook. I see a familiar face and it is my friend and she has come to get coffee, before going to work. Upon seeing her Blackberry, I notice that she is on Facebook. She tells me that it is through the social networks that she keeps in touch with her other friends. This is because she hardly ever finds time to see them physically. Facebook has taken over peoplesââ¬â¢ lives and it is controlling how they communicate. Day 1- Friends house Later on, during the day, at two in the afternoon, I head to my friends house, in order to use her laptop for my assignment. Upon arriving, there is blaring hip-hop music and my friend greets me as she welcomes me into her study area. I notice that most of her attention is on the mobile phone that she is using. While we talk, she is constantly communicating with people and I assume that she is texting. As I sit and do my work using her laptop, she laughs out loudly and tells me about the comment made by her friend on Facebook. Yet another incident whereby, people are communicating through Facebook is presented before me. She tells me that she finds it hard to call her friends as it is expensive, and she is used to the social website. From her reaction, it seems that Facebook is extremely vital to her and prefers it, than having physical contact with other people. As she carries on with her duties around the house, I notice that she is constantly multitasking because her phone is always held by her. I over hear her talking to her mother who is scolding her for not being attentive and diligent in her duties. Furthermore, her mother blames it on her obsession with Facebook. These observations are becoming extremely common in the two scenes, which I have visited. Day 2- Hookah lounge ââ¬ËThe spotââ¬â¢ The following day I go to the hookah lounge at five in the evening. This is the time when many people have just come from work and want to get a drink. The crowd here is mostly young adults and they are seated in small groups, as they talk about their daily experiences in life. The background music is soothing and this creates a conducive atmosphere for some love birds seated at the corner of the lounge. Despite being on date, a certain couple is often interrupted as the male, keeps on checking his phone. From the gestures he is making, he seems to be irritating his date but he does not seem to notice this. After a few minutes, the female leaves, and the male does not seem bothered. Relationships are being destroyed by Facebook and this issue should be addressed. Day 2- Starbucks I choose to go back to Starbucks at seven in the evening, as this time is helpful for further observation. People who do not take alcohol and prefer a calmer environment choose to go to Starbucks. I seat next to a young man who is working on his laptop. It seems that he is busy working on a project, but after a closer look, he is on Facebook chatting. On a normal evening, the young man could be with his friends or family, but he chooses to sit alone and chat. I think that this is extremely unhealthy and unsocial. I then head out to go home and cannot avoid seeing as people leave their places of work and most of them are busy with their phones. The latter range from I -phones, to Blackberries and even other brands, which are not known. There is noise coming from almost every direction, such as the hooting taxis, street vendors and the people who are catching after their work places. Constant use of mobile phones is the most unique thing taking place. It seems that the mobile phone is the most common form of communication in this generation. Conclusion According to what I have observed, relationships, which adults have, are becoming virtual. Mobile phones are not being used for traditional communication, but rather for the purpose of Facebook communication. The number of adults who are in Facebook is alarming and this might cause problems in the future. It is vital that people are made aware about the negative impacts of using Facebook excessively. Relationships are being destroyed by Facebook and its users do not seem to notice this. If given another chance, I would like to try this observation in another setting such as a school, hospital or an office. I think the results will be the same, because so long one has access to the internet, they cannot resist from using Facebook. I would like to know if people are aware that they are obsessed with Facebook, which has taken over their lives.

Strengths of Public Sector Organizations In the horizontal structure there are few positions are at top and the remaining people are the peers. This structure is more common in law, architecture and medical firms. Staff works in teams rather than according to the hierarchy. Few public organizations use divisional structure. Examples The department of homeland security and the California energy commission are examples of public sector organizations that are operating under matrix structure. Matrix structure is a mixture of divisional and functional structure. These two departments use highly specialized employees and equipment, employees do the same task repetitively and they get specialize in that particular task. Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck :: Papers
Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck The title of the book i am writing about is 'of mice and men' and is written by John Steinbeck. This book is set in western America in the sub urban areas. The book is set in 1937. The job of farm labouring is a boring one because the men who work there usually travel by themselves, this is different in George and Lenny's case because they travel together everywhere they go. They both have each other for company, although Lenny has the capabilities of a child. In the time the book is written America is in depression, many businesses failed and many men worked for low pay contracts at different ranches across America. The American dream is to live in small town or in a suburban area where grass and trees simulate the country. This dream home is a permanent seat, not rented but owned. This dream is bound to fail because everyone wants that dream and it cost a lot of money, most of the men working in America with this dream are on low salary so can never afford the American dream. George is one of the main characters in the book, he travels from ranch to ranch with Lennie. George gets Lennie out of trouble when he does bad things. The dream George has is to live in a small house and have a few acres of land and live off of the fatter of the land and not to go to work on the land when they don't feel like it or the weather is horrible. This dream usual for the time he is living in. This is the type of dream that people have in them days. Georges dream is that 'were gonna get the jack together and were gonna have a little house and a couple of acres and some cows and some pigs and we'll have a big vegetable patch and a rabbit hutch and chickens. And when it rains in the winter, we'll just say the hell with goin to work'.

Infant/Early Childhood Naturalistic Observation Essay
I observed a classroom of four-year-old students who are enrolled at the Child Development Center on the George Mason University campus. This observation lasted about fifteen minutes with a total of twelve students in the classroom. At the time of my observation the students were engaging in free playtime where they are allowed to play games, make crafts, and interact with their fellow classmates. I was seated in the corner of the classroom where the children could not easily see me or get distracted by me. I stayed seated throughout the whole observation so the students would not be affected by my presence. Many different activities were happening at the same time, but a couple standout situations reminded me of many subject areas we focused on in class. One particular observation was the various styles of play the students were engaging in. About half of the students were engaging in constructive play while the others were engaging in dramatic play. Constructive play is characteriz ed by the act of creating or constructing something while dramatic, or make-believe play, is characterized by acting out everyday and imaginary roles (Berk, 2010, p262). The two play styles are very common in children around the age of four. There were about five children playing ââ¬Å"house.â⬠In the family there was a child pretending to be the mommy, the daddy, the older brother, the younger sister, and the puppy. The mommy was making dinner while the daddy was watching television and supervising the children while they did their homework. The young girl who was acting as the puppy gave out a few occasional ââ¬Å"ruffsâ⬠to make her presence known. The young girl, who assumed her role as the mother, yelled out ââ¬Å"dinners ready.â⬠The two young kids pretending to be the children stopped doing homework and sat down at the dinner table. The young girl playing the mom sternly said to her children ââ¬Å"be careful, the food is very hot. It just came out of the oven.â⬠They continued this story for the remainder of my observation with various story lines and new characters added to the story. This scenario depicts the perfect explanation of the type of play style described as dramatic play. Dramatic play permits children to fit the reality of the world into their own interests and knowledge. One of the purest forms of symbolic thought available to young children, dramatic play, contributes strongly to theà intellectual development of children. Young children learn by imagining and doing and dramatic play allows them to do so. Dramatic play also promotes the use of speaking and listening skills. When children take part in this type of play, they practice words they have heard others say, and realize that they must listen to what other ââ¬Å"playersâ⬠say in order to be able to respond in an appropriate fashion. This style of play also promotes the development of social skills through interaction with others, peers or adults, which is a necessary factor in a childââ¬â¢s future. While some children were playing ââ¬Å"houseâ⬠others were taking part in constructive play. In this stage, toddlers have a deep understanding of what various objects can do and will now try to build things with the toys and everyday objects they find around them. One child had a box of blocks and was building a train track. Once he finished he assembled a line of trains to ride along the track he had just built. He repeatedly made noises that trains usually make such as ââ¬Å"choo-choo.â⬠Other children were interlocking Lego blocks and creating various structures while some were playing with play-dough and sculpting whatever came to their mind. When toddlers play with these open-ended materials, they have the chance to build many different skills. These could include using art materials to create a picture or project giving toddlers practice using fine motor skills that they need to write and perform tasks that they will need for the rest of their lives. You may never t hink that the different styles of play a child engages in effects them or their future, but when you look deeper into the various cognitive and motor developments these plays enhance you can see that it is very important for all children to participate in these behaviors. Nature Vs Nurture Debate - 1343 Words
One topic that has been controversial to psychologist since the phrase was created in 1869 is ââ¬Å"Nature vs Nurtureâ⬠. Although the debate was started well before then, 1869 was the first time it was tied to the debate. The nature vs nurture debate is over whether you get your behavior from genetics, what you inherited from your biological parents, or if they are learned characteristics, what you learn from the environment and what you get taught.
